Don't forget the lyrics...

At the Pepsi 500 NASCAR event in Fontana, California on Sunday, October 11th Jesse McCartney was to sing the Star Spangled Banner. He started out nervously enough with a cracking voice, and obviously let his nerves get the best of him, because he skipped over an entire part of the song. Yes, McCartney forgot to sing part of what is perhaps one of the most revered songs in the nation. Everyone hears this song at every sporting event ever played, before the game is allowed to start. This song, originally a poem written by Francis Scott Key, was made the national anthem by Congress in 1931, to unite the Americas by one song. Apparently McCartney felt the pressure of singing if front of thousands of people, since no one usually shows up to his concerts, and folded like the bad poker hand that he is.

  1. Wow this is really funny! I don't understand how he could skip over an entire line! He obviously should memorize and practice the song he is singing next time he goes on stage.

  2. OK, can I just say in Jesse's defense that you can't judge someone without being it there position. As a singer I have had to perform countless times, and have forgotten words out of sheer nervousness. & yes.. the first basketball game I had to sing the Star Spangled Banner for I completely forgot a line. Nerves can kill anyone depending on the circumstance, and practice can't even completely conquer that.
