No More Tweeting!

It's no surprise that every celebrity has become a part of the Internet phenomenon know as Twitter. Celebs connect with their fans by posting their daily events on the website allowing the public to know what the celebrities are doing at every minute of the day. This type of openness has become a privacy issue with a few studio executives. Studio's such as Dreamworks and Livid Studio have banned their celebrity stars from tweeting while on set or during the process of shooting their films. Cameron Diaz and Mike Meyers have been denied use of the website by Dreamworks during the production of another Shrek film. Producers have actually included this in part of their contract, requiring celebs to sign a no Tweeting clause; this includes a certain time period that the celebrities are not even allowed on the website. A few movie leaks and spoilers have come form the website during other movie productions causing this type extreme action.

  1. Wow! I never thought about the consequences of tweeting from a studios point of view. The article I read for our last assignment in class dealt with the issues on tweeting and politics, but it's interesting to see how this phenomenon has affected other areas.

  2. I have to agree with the studios because the stars that are in their films are working for them and thus representing them as a business. Also what they put on twitter and what they tell their fans about movies and filming can ruin the suspense that is behind a new film.

  3. I see nothing wrong with what the studios are doing. This is a good tactic by the studios to ensure that none of their information is leaked too soon.
